Rule 1: 1. Forms I–X in the two passages
Each derived form brings its own shade of meaning to the story. Form II ثَبَّتَتْهُ she steadied him; III هَاجَرَ he emigrated, جَاهَدَ he strove, عَارَضَهُ they opposed him; IV أَسْلَمَ he became Muslim, أَعْلَنَ he proclaimed, أَنْذَرَ he warned, أَرْسَلَ he sent; V تَفَكَّرَ he reflected, تَعَبَّدَ he devoted himself to worship, تَزَوَّجَ he married, and the verbal noun تَفَرُّقٌ disunity; VI has no example in the passages, so the table below supplies تَعَاوَنَ to help one another; VII is likewise absent, and the table supplies اِنْقَطَعَ to withdraw, be cut off; VIII اِشْتَهَرَ he became famous, اِعْتَزَلَ he kept apart from, اِنْتَشَرَ it spread, اِجْتَمَعَ they united, اِنْتَقَمَ he took revenge; X اِسْتَغْفَرَ he asked forgiveness. Form IX, reserved for colours, has no natural place in a biography, so the Qurʾān example below supplies it.
